Conferences containing course elements can, subject to a specific assessment, attract ECTS credits under the course section of the PhD degree programme.To obtain approval of conference participation as part of the 30 ECTS credits, it is a condition that the conference has a course component and that the main supervisor recommends that the conference be part of the course plan. An application for approval of conference participation must be submitted to Inger Andersen, the faculty secretariat, covering the following points:

• description of the number of hours required for preparation
• whether a paper or abstract has been prepared in connection with the conference
• a conference programme
  

The PhD student and the main supervisor are subsequently advised as to whether the application can be approved.
