The purpose of the halfway report is to give the PhD committee the opportunity to ascertain that the work on the PhD dissertation is progressing satisfactorily. The halfway report must contain the following elements:

• A commented preliminary table of contents with page numbers for the main sections
• A time schedule for the completion of the dissertation
• A total plan of publication (including names of journals) if the dissertation is submitted in the form of articles.

The halfway report must not exceed 4-5 pages.

PhD students enrolled on the 3-year programme (5+3) must submit the halfway report together with the third semi-annual evaluation.

PhD students enrolled on the 4-year programme (4+4) must submit the halfway report together with the fifth semi-annual evaluation.

The PhD student and the principal supervisor may be invited to attend the PhD Committee’s discussion of the halfway report.
