Applications and project descriptions are dealt with by an assessment committee that consists of three researchers at the faculty. When assessing applications, the committee places emphasis on the points mentioned above regarding the contents of the project outline/description. The committee also attaches importance to whether the project is well defined, and whether it considers that the project can be completed within the three years available.
When assessing the applicants’ qualifications, the committee attaches importance to both general competence and any special qualifications that are significant for carrying out the project. This process leads to an assessment of each applicant as “qualified” or “not qualified”. The assessment committee submits its recommendation to the dean, who invites a number of qualified applicants to an interview lasting 15–20 minutes. Following these interviews, the dean decides which applicants are offered a PhD scholarship or a PhD fellowship.
All applicants receive a reply to their application approximately 11-12 weeks after expiry of the deadline for applications/receipt of applications.
