Get-acquainted events for new students – welcome

New students at the Faculty of Theology always receive a warm welcome. Each year, a handful of tutors are chosen among the older students to assist the new students in getting acquainted with each other and the university. The tutors introduce the new students to the premises, persons, facilities, everyday life, etc. and offer their assistance in various matters to help new students adjust to their new way of life.

The first two semester weeks typically include:

  • A general introduction to the faculty and practical information
  • Trial lectures
  • Social and professional get-acquainted events

Student activities and societies

Figenbladet ("the fig leaf") is the faculty’s own magazine, providing a forum for information and discussion across the different faculty groups: students, teaching and research staff and technical and administrative staff. It is published three times each semester. The editorial team consists of students from the Bachelor’s as well as the Master’s degree programmes.

Throughout the year, the Theology Society (Teologisk Forening) and the Society for the Study of Religion (Religionsvidenskabelig Forening) organise professional and social events for students, teachers and others. Typical events are guest lectures, study tours and parties.

Other student activities worth mentioning are the expert committees for Theology and the Study of Religion, the student publisher Teoltryk and the Student Congregation (homepages in Danish).

The library – with study environment

In addition to holding a large collection of professional literature on theology and the study of religion, parts of the library function as an open study environment with group working sites, workstations and a classroom. The library forms a natural assembly point for the students and functions as a vibrant workplace.

Master’s thesis students can apply for a desk in one the faculty offices provided for this purpose. A desk is normally assigned for a period of six months.

Parties and Friday bar

Of course, the Faculty of Theology boasts a Friday bar – Theo’s Bar. Here, the students can meet every Friday from 3pm for a beer (or more).

Each year, a semester start party is thrown in September, a Christmas party with the annual revue in December and a spring party in March.
