Syllabus, etc.

Students following the 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009 curricula will be examined in the syllabus for the current semester.

If the student is to be examined in the syllabus from an earlier, recently held course, a so-called “petitum“ form must be filled out and handed in.

Examination in an alternative syllabus requires an exemption permit from the Board of Studies. Agreement on an individual syllabus cannot be made between the individual student and the teacher, unless the course is based on a composite syllabus (eg. elective theme studies).

Procedure concerning written assignments

Procedure for home assignments – curricula 2003, 2005, 2007 og 2009 (awaits translation into English)

Cover page for written assignments (Theology)

All written assignments must carry a standard cover page. The purpose of the form is to ensure all relevant information is provided. In addition, the student must state and confirm with his/her signature the exact number of characters (including spaces).

  • Rules on the size of assignments

The upper and lower size limit for written assignments is stated in the curriculum for each examination. The number of pages is counted in standard pages. As from 1 September 2005, a standard page equals 2,400 characters including spaces. This includes all the Faculty’s degree programmes with the exception of Master’s theses following the Theology 2003 curriculum, which are to be prepared according to the rules effective before 1 September 2005. Thus, what counts it is the number of characters, not the physical number of pages.

As an example, the number of pages for a Master’s thesis according to the existing rules must be between 120,000 characters (50 standard pages) and 180,000 characters (75 standard pages). A Master’s thesis containing less than 75 pages but more than 180,000 characters – for whatever reason – does not comply with the examination rules of the curriculum. If you have doubts whether or not the size of your assignment is in compliance with the rules, please contact the Examinations Office before you hand in the assignment.

Calculation of the number of standard pages includes text, references and summary (Bachelor’s project as per the 2003 curriculum is excluded). Exempt are front page/cover, table of contents and reference list of literature used.

  • Agreement form for Bachelor’s project and elective theme studies (in Danish)

For Bachelor’s projects and elective theme studies on the Master’s degree programme, an agreement must be made concerning syllabus and exam question/assignment formulation. The syllabus must be agreed not later than 1 April/1 November, respectively, and the exam question/assignment formulation must be agreed not later than 1 May/1 December, respectively. As for oral examination in elective theme study, the exam question must be agreed not later than 2 weeks before the examination. The examiner must submit a copy of the agreement form and syllabus to the Examinations Office immediately upon the signing of the agreement.

  • Bachelor’s project

The Bachelor’s project must contain a summary in a foreign language. The following rule applies: A Bachelor’s project must contain a summary of 0.5-1.0 pages written in English, German or French . The summary will be included in the assessment of the assignment and the calculation of the number of pages according to the 2005 curriculum, but will not be included in the calculation of the number of pages according to the 2003 curriculum. A Bachelor’s project not containing a summary cannot be assessed and will be given the mark 00.

Examination dates

When planning the oral examinations, the Examinations Office strives to ensure that students get as much time as possible between individual examinations. However, examination dates cannot be changed by contacting the Examinations Office. In exceptional cases, applications concerning wishes for a particular examination date can be submitted to the Board of Studies for Theology.
